In February 2021, Dr. Amini received one of the most prestigious NSF award, known as NSF CAREER Award. Considering the trend towards “specialized computing” and technologies like accelerators and ASICs in the computing industry, Dr. Amini’s proposal is to build special-purpose cloud systems. Accordingly, in his project, titled: CAREER: Developing a Special-Purpose Cloud for Robust Serverless Multimedia Streaming, he advocates building such a special-purpose cloud for multimedia streaming.
